Joel Kessel

Joel Kessel, Kessel Communications is February’s expert. Joel is a strategic communications and public relations consultant who works with organizations that desire a more strategic, streamlined and efficient way to tell their story to those who matter—customers, supporters, donors, influencers. A story that not only is interesting and compelling, but uses the right avenues to move the needle and get people to take action, support their cause, buy their products and services.

It starts with strategy and Joel believes that communication without a strong strategy—and tied to well-articulated and understood organizational goals—is simply a nonstrategic use of time, money and effort.

Throughout his 20-year career, Joel has helped numerous nonprofit organizations tell their story on a local, national and global level from Chicago Youth Centers to the National Runaway Safeline to Ronald McDonald House Charities.

He is a member of The Ohio State University’s Varsity “O” Men’s Alumni Association, is a founding member of the Ohio chapter of the Association for Strategic Planning, and the Ohio Interactive Awards, and he serves as a mentor for the 10-xelerator new ventures incubator at OSU’s Fisher College of Business. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in public relations.

He resides with his wife and two children in Dublin, Ohio
